A 31-year-old US Army captain who lived in Dothan, Alabama was killed Sunday in Iraq.
Robert Scheetz Jr. was an intelligence officer with the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, Baumholder, Germany.
Three weeks ago he was interviewed by a national news network for rescuing a British photojournalist.
Last year, Scheetz was the subject of an Associated Press photo that ran in The Washington Post. A Pennsylvania man who didn't know the Scheetz family contacted them about the picture and made sure they got a copy. The picture (see below) was taken exactly one year before he was killed.
